NNAMDI KALU: AN OPEN LETTER TO PMB BY CONCERNED CITIZENS OF IBEKU EGWU ASAA HOME AND ABROAD

A group in the aegis of CONCERNED CITIZENS OF IBEKU EGWU ASAA HOME AND ABROAD  from the home land of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra sends a strong open letter to the president of Nigeria, President Mohammed Buhari concerning the re-arrest of their brother, MAAZI NNAMDI KALU.
The letter reads thus....

27th July, 2021

Your Excellency,

President Muhammad Buhari, GCFR,

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,

Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Your Excellency Sir,

OPEN LETTER FOR THE RELEASE OF MAZI NNAMDI OKWUM KANU

We, THE CONCERNED CITIZENS OF IBEKU EGWU ASAA HOME AND DIASPORA, a progressive and

equity based organization in Ibeku land write specifically in respect to the re-arrest and illegal

detention of our Son and Brother, “MAZI NNAMDI OKWUM KANU” at the Department of State

Security (DSS) under failing health conditions, and torture. Instead of the Federal Government

Correctional Center.

We wish to express our deep concern, and to condemn in its entirety the surreptitious and barbaric

means wherein MAZI NNAMDI OKWUM KANU was kidnapped and bundled down to Nigeria under

suspicious circumstances, we therefore call on the Federal Government as a matter of urgency

without prejudice; firstly, to grant him an unconditional access to his personal physician to enable

him attend to his deteriorating health as already announced by his Counsel. A nation practicing

democracy is expected to be a leading example in upholding the tenets of the rule of law, and we

expect that such should be observed in the present circumstance.

Your excellency, we recall that in 2017, “MAZI NNAMDI OKWUM KANU” was in his home town and

did not jump bail as widely alleged and speculated, rather, the unfortunate invasion of his Isiama

Afaraukwu Ibeku family home while his trial was on-going was a questionable act of terror. During

the malicious attack by the Nigerian Military, many lives were lost in his premises, and properties

were destroyed, his residence and the entire community was under siege, and later turned into a

theater of war, consequent upon these misguided deadly attacks geared towards exterminating him,

he resorted to scampering for his safety wherein he fled the country hence the lives of his family

members were no longer guaranteed and the trauma leading to the unfortunate death of his

parents, who were also adapted by the Nigeria Military.

This traumatic and miscalculated illegal act by the men of the Nigeria Military threw the entire family

and community into confusion and subsequently the suspicious circumstances under which his

parents lost their lives was not encouraging.

In view of the above, we, under the aegis of “CONCERNED CITIZENS OF IBEKU EGWU ASAA HOME

AND DIASPORA” wish to categorically states as follows :

1. That *MAZI NNAMDI KANU* is our brother and a true son of Ibeku Land in Umuahia North LGA,

Abia State.

2. That we awaits a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding his abduction and incarceration

by the Department of State Security (DSS).

3. That all trials and proceedings must conform strictly with the norms of the provisions of the

Human Right rules and obligations which includes; the rights to fair hearing, dignity to his person and

presumption of innocence as enshrined in our constitution.

4. That the Federal Government should as a matter of urgency and necessity channel their energy to

quickly address the spate of insecurity ravaging the country wherein pupils/students are being

abducted at random, insurgency at the increase, extra-judicial killings, banditry other than targeting

un-armed individuals with positive ideology aimed at building a sustainable peaceful coexistence.

5. That we further urge the Federal Government under the leadership of President MUHAMMAD

BUHARI to ensure that our brother is treated in accordance with the rules and International

conventions that guarantees his rights and personal safety, considering that what he is fighting for

and demanding from the federation is enshrined in the United Nations Charter on Indigenous

People’s Right For Self Determination through a peaceful United Nation monitored Referendum

which has been lately observed in the United Kingdom.

6. that we resolved to be law abiding hoping that our request should be given prompt attention that

it deserves.

7. that the same court trying Nnamdi Kanu will be going on vacation before the 26th day of July, 2021,

meaning that it is a ploy to keep him at the DSS detention camp unabated.

Your Excellency Sir, it is our firm belief that our letter and the contents therein will be addressed

positively because an injury to one is an injury to all.

Accept our best assurances of our esteemed regard, while waiting for your prompt attention to our

request.

Thank you.
